You knew how to save me before I fell dead in the garden

It's interesting how we trudge through deserts sometimes with God.
We think "If I go here I'll surely be filled. Full of His water-His life- permanently this time."

But it never works that way.

Never.

If we were constantly fed, constantly full of Jesus, we would loose sight of our need for Him.
And if He truly is the one with the most perfect love, the kind of love that can make us whole again... He has to make sure that never ever happens.

So we must be starved.
We must walk through deserts
We must embrace silence.

Silence only makes His voice sweeter and it's silence that makes us long for Him. It pulls our hearts, reminding us of our dependence on Him. It shows us His value ever more clear.
He knows we need Him... but do we?

Walking through a desert with God, a dry place with no beauty, can feel like it has no end. It can feel like the ground will always be cracked with thirst, like your own heart is cracked with thirst. Dry for lack of him. But how much more of a miracle when the rain comes.

Rain over the ocean doesn't receive songs and joy from anyone. Nothing needs it.
But rain over a dry farmland will be received with tears and with thankfulness.

Who do you think knows the value of the rain?

Take your desert as a time to remember the value of the rain..
But also know that deserts don't last forever.

Biblically I'd say at most 40 years ;-)))
